Watching the helicopters take off
Today we were supposed to take a helicopter to a glacier where we were to visit dogsled camp and then take a dogsled ride on the glacier. We were very excited especially since Solomon loves pup-pups and this was a tour just for him. Ok for us also but definitely one he'd enjoy as well. Sadly we got to the helicopter landing and it was cancelled b/c of the weather. We were disappointed but all the same glad that they did take the weather conditions seriously. We'll try to jump on another helicopter/dog sledding adventure down the road in our Alaskan adventure.
We watched the helicopters take off. Solomon was so brave not even phased by the noise and the wind that the helicopter created. Even I found myself walking away from the helicopter. I never knew that they put off that much wind.

Exploring Mendenhall Glacier
Our third day in Juneau, Alaska we drove out to Mendenhall Glacier. It was beautiful. Glaciers give off a color blue that i've never seen before and photos do not do it justice. It is simply beautiful and cold.. Brrr After we explored around the glacier we drove out as far as you can drive north of Juneau along the Lynn Canal. The day was beautiful for a drive.

Juneau, Alaska - Whale Watching
Our first full day in Juneau we decided to jump on a whale watching boat. We called one of the whale watching operations and they told us they have a boat going out in about 40 minutes and a van that will be coming by our hotel in 5 minutes if we wanted to jump on with them. In our shock we said YES and threw some things in a bag for Solomon and went outside just in time to make the van.

Getting on the boat.
Humpback whales that we saw around Juneau
The humpbacks were bubble net feeding which is something that isn't done any where else on earth, only in southeast Alaska. We felt so blessed that we were able to witness this.
Seattle
We visited Seattle as a pre-trip to our Alaskan trip. A place to get used to the time change, a place to get our heads together and our gear together before we make the journey north. The journey to the great NORTH.
A visit to Seattle isn't complete with out a visit to the Pike Place Market. We were lucky that our hotel was within walking distance, just right below the market on the waterfront.
